Villa Emo, Castelfranco, Bassano del Grappa

Escursione intera giornata con visita  a Villa Emo, a Fanzolo,  capolavoro palladiano del 1560 sorge solitaria e imponente a vegliare sulle campagne circostanti; proseguimento alla scoperta di Castelfranco Veneto, città scrigno di Giorgione, essa vi accoglie con la Torre dell’orologio, splendida porta d’entrata circondata da mura merlate che conservano i colori e i profumi di una lunga storia. Il centro del castello è un vero e proprio scrigno artistico  che raccoglie molteplici e significativi stili architettonici; visita al Duomo che conserva la magnifica Pala del Giorgione.

Pranzo in ristornate con menù tipico locale e nel pomeriggio visita di Bassano del Grappa.  Tra le attrattive più importanti della città c’è il Ponte in Legno detto anche Ponte degli Alpini o Ponte Vecchio che sorge sul fiume Brenta. Il ponte è stato ricostruito più volte dopo le varie distruzioni dovute alle forti correnti dell’acqua. Dopo i bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale venne ricostruito dagli alpini. L’attuale struttura venne progettata dal celebre architetto Andrea Palladio che pensò al legno come materiale costruttivo più resistente alla forte corrente del Brenta: “Presso à Bassano ho ordinato il Ponte di Legname, sopra la Brenta fiume velocissimo, che mette capo in mare vicino à Venetia”.

Full day excursion with visit of Villa Emo, in Fanzolo, Palladian masterpiece of 1560, rises solitary and imposing to watch over the surrounding countryside; continuation to discover Castelfranco Veneto, Giorgione’s treasure trove, it welcomes you with the Clock Tower, a wonderful entrance door surrounded by crenellated walls that preserve the colors and scents of a long history. The center of the castle is a veritable artistic treasure chest that brings together multiple and significant architectural styles; visit to the Duomo that preserves the magnificent Pala del Giorgione.

Lunch in restaurant with typical local menu and in the afternoon visit of Bassano del Grappa. Among the most important attractions of the city is the Wood brigde also known as the Ponte degli Alpini or Ponte Vecchio which rises on the Brenta river. The bridge was rebuilt several times after the various destructions due to strong water currents. After the bombings of the Second World War it was rebuilt by the Alpine troops. The current structure was designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio who thought of wood as a construction material
more resistant to the strong current of the Brenta.
