Sistemazione in pullman e partenza verso Sesto a Reghena (PN). All’ arrivo visiteremo la bellissima Abbazia benedettina di Santa Maria in Silvis, così chiamata perchè anticamente si trovava in un fitto bosco (selva), è oggi una delle più importanti istituzioni monastiche del Friuli Venezia Giulia. Fu costruita nel VIII secolo dai fratelli Erfo, Anto e Marco, membri di una nobile famiglia longobarda.

Proseguimento per Concordia Sagittaria, città fondata nel 42 a.C. col nome di Iulia Concordia, per visitare i resti dell’antica basilica paleocristiana Apostolorum Major, esattamente sotto l’attuale basilica di S. Stefano.

Trasferimento ad Altino e pranzo in ristorante.

Al termine visita al Museo di Altino da poco ampliato e rinnovato, dove si potrà vedere quel che rimane del selciato originale della via Claudia, situato presso la vasta area archeologica della città romana di Altinum, lungo la via Annia e ai margini della laguna veneta.

Accommodation by coach and departure to Sesto in Reghena (PN). Upon arrival we will visit the beautiful Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria in Silvis, so called because in ancient times it was located in a dense wood (selva), today it is one of the most important monastic institutions of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It was built in the 8th century by the brothers Erfo, Anto and Marco, members of a noble Lombard family.

Continue on to Concordia Sagittaria, a city founded in 42 BC with the name of Iulia Concordia, to visit the remains of the ancient early Christian basilica Apostolorum Major, just below the current basilica of St. Stephen. Transfer to Altino and lunch in a restaurant.

At the end visit to the recently expanded and renovated Museum of Altino, where you can see what remains of the original pavement of the Via Claudia, located in the vast archaeological area of the Roman city of Altinum, along the Via Annia and at the edge of the Venetian lagoon.
